Sora Kake Girl
Category: TV
Genre: Action, Drama, Ecchi, Science-Fiction
Year: 2009
Studio: Sunrise

The veteran anime studio Sunrise has opened a teaser site for a new project called Sora o Kakeru Shōjo [Sora Kake Girl or "The Girl Who Leapt Through Space (the Heavens)"]. The site provides no other information besides a promise that more details will be given in October 10. On that day, the official homepage will open, and there will be coverage in Kadokawa Shoten's Newtype, Tokuma Shoten's Animage, and Gakken Kenkyūsha's Animedia magazines. The project's title is an apparent wordplay on Toki o Kakeru Shōjo or The Girl Who Leapt Through Time, Yasutaka Tsutsui's classic novel that was adapted into several live-action television series, live-action films, manga, and an acclaimed anime film.

Soul Eater Wii, Macross PSP Games.

12/26/2008 Reporter: KoKuro 0 Responses

Discontinuing today's feeble string of sequel announcements, Soul Eater is one of the ongoing animes which is not ending this month, nor is it getting a second season anytime soon (hell, there are still almost 40 episodes left!). What it is getting, however, is a Wii game called Soul Eater: Monotone Princess.According to the official website opened by publisher Square Enix, the Soul Eater game will be released in Japan on September 25, and San'plex writes that it will be an action-adventure of sorts, featuring an original story and anime cinematics produced by studio Bones. You can see the first low-res screenshots scattered around the official website, plus a wallpaper which we took the liberty of adding locally. Also newly announced is Macross Ace Frontier - a multiplayer 3D action game for the PSP handheld console, which will be released in Japan this autumn. Though obviously based on the ongoing Macross F anime, the game will also include "characters and transformable fighters from 25 years and 6 different science-fiction anime works of Macross". Screenshots are up on Famitsu (via ANN).On a playful sidenote, Famitsu (via San'plex) also writes some stuff about a new elfish character in Tales of Vesperia, named Judith, showing her in some new screenshots. Tales of Vesperia is still set for release on Xbox 360 this August.

Well folks, looks like the party has come to an end. All of you enjoying your free Tetris are up the proverbial creek sans paddle. Your Wii should be glowing blue as you read this right now.The latest update, which rolls the Wii Menu to 3.3, not only kills the Twilight Hack, but also allows you to move a Mii from the Mii Plaza into the Mii Parade directly, thanks to the addition of a handy new icon. You just drag and drop as you normally would. But, let's get back to the real news here. Nintendo has finally gone ahead and sunk the U.S.S. Homebrew. We're anxious to see how the community is going to take this one.

The software developers Platinum Games and Sega have scheduled their Mugen Kōro - Infinite Space science-fiction roleplaying game for the Nintendo DS portable console next spring and announced the October launch of animated short films for the project. The game centers around Yūrī, a young man who journeys across lawless space and becomes a spaceship captain. The animation studios GONZO and Production I.G are producing short movies to promote the game and develop its world and storyline. The first of the movies will premiere at the Tokyo Game Show on October 9 and then will run on the game's official website on October 17.

Yasufumi Soejima (Mardock Scramble) is directing the anime project with character designs by Fumitoshi Oizaki (Pretear episode 11 director). Takayo Nishino and Yusuke Takeda of the Bamboo anime studio (Ghost in the Shell: Stand Alone Complex: Solid State Society) is overseeing the art, and Ryōma Tsuchiya is providing additional designs.

Several former staffers of CAPCOM's Clover Studio (Viewtful Joe, Ōkami, God Hand) merged their Seeds studio with the ODD software company to create Platinum Games in 2007. Besides Infinite Space, Platinum Games is also developing the Bayonetta action game for the Sony PlayStation 3 and Microsoft Xbox 360 consoles and the Madworld action game for non-Japanese Nintendo Wii consoles; both projects are targeting 2009 for their releases.

Fiat to Launch Limited-Edition Lupin III Car

9/29/2008 Reporter: KoKuro 0 Responses

Not-So-Daily Link of the Day The racing website Crash.net reports that Italian auto maker Fiat is launching a limited-edition run of its new Fiat Nuova 500 cars with an image of Monkey Punch's iconic manga and anime character, the gentleman thief Lupin III. The Nuova 500's predecessor and inspiration, the classic 1957 Fiat 500 "cinquecento," has played a major role in various Lupin III works, such as the Hayao Miyazaki-directed Lupin III: The Castle of Cagliostro and this year's Lupin III: Green vs Red television movie (pictured at right). The cars will be available starting in the second half of 2009.

In addition, Fiat has also designed a Lupin-inspired paint scheme for the Fiat Yamaha M1 motorcycle that Spanish racer Jorge Lorenzo used in the Japanese Grand Prix race of the International Motorcycling Federation's Road Racing World Championship Season on Sunday. Fiat said that its goal is to "reach out to motorbike racing fans through projects linked to the world of creativity and design so that it can communicate above all with younger members of its audience."
